Beefeaters

At Buckingham Palace in London, the men who guard the palace are known as Beefeaters. With their red uniforms and distinctive tall, black hats, they have a worldwide reputation for standing still as statues, a reputation perhaps only equaled by U.S. Marine Corps Embassy Guards. Webmaster - ok, so I'm a little partial to my brother Marines... Anyway, one day a palace guard who had had a long night had fallen asleep on his post. He woke up, and without opening his eyes, realized what he had done. He also felt the breath of the Sergeant of the Guard on his face, and realized the man was staring straight at him... all without opening his eyes. After a brief moment of panic, he thought of a way out: He assumed a peaceful look, snapped his eyes open looking straight ahead, and calmly spoke, "Amen."
